This a comparatively turbulent season for Rory McIlroy. Searching for his next win after last year’s CJ Cup his hunt finally finished at the Genesis Scottish Open which allowed him to make a historic win after many close calls.

And when he was about to make another win at the Tour Championship this season he threw out his back which gave him much trouble. However, with the latest news, the Irishman has finally found a silver lining and has taken a good paycheck in other terms.

This year on the DPWT McIlroy has played only in nine tournaments on the DP World Tour. But despite that, he is the winner of the Race to Dubai points. This makes it his 5th time after winning in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2022.

The Race to Dubai is a season-long competition to crown the European Tour’s number one player. It finalizes at the DP World Tour Championship where the winner is decided. It concludes with the Turkish Airlines Open and Nedbank Golf Challenge and gives the player a chance to qualify for the DPWT Championship.

And it is great luck for McIlroy who won it despite playing a handful of tournaments. According to golf page Flushing, “Despite only playing 4 regular DP World Tour events in 2023 and having not played the DP World Tour Championship yet, Rory McIlroy is officially the winner of the Race to Dubai. It’ll be back-to-back European Order of Merit wins for Rory, who also won the title in 2022!”

The Irishman is the most successful golfer in Race to Dubai. He is the only man to have won the competition on four occasions and took home a big paycheck. This is his fifth time.
