It was only the third start at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship for Nelly Korda. In the second run, the 25-year-old pro won the championship in the playoffs against Ryann O’Toole. The score was tied as Korda shot two bogeys on the 17th and 18th hole of the final round. But over the par-4 18th hole playoff, Korda carded the birdie putt to take the win.

With the $300,000 victory at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, Korda will reach the rank of world number one once again. This is not the first time that she acquired that spot in her career. Exactly how many times has Korda become the world number one on the LPGA Tour?

Nelly Korda made her debut on the LPGA Tour in 2017. However, to reach the world number rank, it took the 25-year-old four years and five victories. Korda was named the Rolex world number one golfer after she clinched her first and only major win to date, at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in 2021. Over the next few years, Korda would go on the travel up and down the rank quite a few times.

However, August 2023 was the last time Korda sat at the top of the world ranking for the LPGA Tour. Since the last season Korda incurred a winless streak on the LPGA Tour. Moreover, it took her seven months to regain the number one rank as she won the 10th victory of her career. Korda ranked as the world number one for the 6th time in her career. The incredible feat also makes the 1-time major winner the 39th American pro to reach double-digits.

Moreover, Korda is also the first LPGA Tour pro to win two titles before reaching the month of April in the last decade. The record was held by Stacy Lewis, who won the HSBC Women’s World Championship and the Cognizant Founders Cup in March 2013. The victory also makes the 10-time LPGA Tour winner the only golfer after Inbee Pak to win back-to-back in playoffs; she won the Drive On Championship over Lydia Ko in February.

The several accolades of Korda are truly commendable, but keeping these aside, Korda, though happy with her win, was focused more on the experience she gained from playing at the event.

Nelly Korda weighs in on enjoying the experience

After getting her 10th victory on the LPGA Tour, Nelly Korda was highly likely over the cloud nine. But the Bradenton native also took it as a learning opportunity. At the post-win presser, Korda said, “There is nothing better than that adrenaline rush coming down your last couple of holes and when you’re in the lead. When it comes to wins, obviously, every event that I play in I want to win.” However, Korda paused to highlight the importance of playing the event, “but I also love the experiences of playing in these events and learning more about myself.”

The 10-time LPGA Tour winner, while talking about her vitories shared the mindset that helped her win the games. She said, “You have got to take it as it comes. Everything happens for a reason,” Korda was particularly talking about not winning in the past season and slowly reclaiming her spot.

Regardless of what happens on the greens, Korda pressed, “I’m always going to put 110% into everything I do, especially with how much I love the game.” The strong belief of Nelly Korda of never backing down and always giving her best has made her, inarguably, one of the best golfers of her time!
