Now 60 and thriving both on and off the course, Stephen Ames has truly found his stride—living back in the Caribbean and at the peak of his career. But it wasn’t always this way. After turning 50, Stephen faced some tough times, with a separation from his wife, Jodi, in 2016, and a major life shift, as he moved with his two teenage boys from Calgary to Vancouver. He even put his family’s $8-million home on sale. Life felt like a whirlwind. But everything changed when Kelly Norcott stepped into his world, bringing a new sense of balance and happiness.

Stephen Ames and Kelly Norcott’s journey together began quietly, away from the spotlight. They first crossed paths through the golf circuit, where Kelly, a constant supporter, would attend Ames’s PGA Tour events. Their connection blossomed over time, transforming from mutual respect to something deeper. However, when they met, it was still not public to the audience. But Kelly posted a picture with Ames and made things public for the first time on December 14, 2015. It was a selfie taken on the golfing grounds and she captioned it, #MCM to my fave swing coach🏌! Not often do you get him to have a drink on the course? 12 days until #Hawaii Part II #bringthebigboysticksthistime

While the details of their first meeting remain a private chapter, what’s clear is that their bond grew steadily, rooted in love and understanding. Eventually, their relationship flourished into a beautiful marriage, bringing a sense of peace and joy to Stephen’s life after years of uncertainty. Having dated each other for a couple of years, they got married to each other on January 25, 2018.

Kelly Norcott even celebrated their seventh anniversary recently, sharing a picture from their wedding on her official Instagram account and wrote, Lucky number ✨7 ✨!! Petitioning to rename the 7-year itch to 7-year BLISS! Been the best ride and it only gets better!! We’re the best of friends, partners, boss/employee (obviously who’s the boss), and lovers! Happy Anniversary to us! #luckyus @stephenamespga”

Despite having completed seven years of their marriage, the couple still do not have any children together. Stephen Ames, however, has kids from his previous marriage.

Stephen Ames and Jodi Ames’s two sons

Stephen Ames was married to Jodi, a Canadian, and for several years, the couple lived in Calgary. They have two sons together, Justin Ames, who is 22 YO, and Ryan, who is 20 YO. However, not much information is available about them. Stephen met Jodi, a former flight attendant, on a flight between tournaments, and their connection blossomed from there.

As the first touring professional golfer to emerge from Trinidad and Tobago, Stephen Ames long represented his homeland with pride. His grandmother had been a two-time Trinidad and Tobago champion as well, a legacy he deeply respected.

Did Kelly Norcott save Stephen Ames' career, or was it just perfect timing for his comeback?

The previous season, Ames finished 72nd on the money list, earning $1,005,959, and found himself in the top 10 four times, a solid performance in an ever-competitive field. On Thursday, March 5th, 2009, Stephen Ames officially became a Canadian citizen, marking the end of a chapter in his life where he was a man caught between two countries. Born in San Fernando, Trinidad, Ames had long considered Canada his home, but in May 2009, he made it official.

At the Harry Hayes Building in Calgary, he took the Oath of Citizenship, cementing his place in the country where he thrived. For years, Ames had been living in Canada, balancing his professional career on the PGA Tour with his life off the course in his adopted home. While he achieved great success as a golfer, this moment was a personal milestone—one that not only represented a legal change but also a deep sense of belonging and commitment to his new country. His journey from Trinidad to Canada was a long one, full of challenges and triumphs, but on that Thursday, he became more than just a golfer representing Canada; he became a proud Canadian citizen, fully embracing the culture and life he had made his own.

“It will be a really special day for my family and me on Thursday,” said Ames, whose wife Jodi and two sons Justin and Ryan were all born in Canada. “I take pride in telling PGA golfers on tour where I am from and I am thrilled to be honored as a Canadian citizen,” said Ames.

After his divorce from Jodi, Ames takes good care of his sons and is happily living his own life with his second wife Kelly Norcott, golfing around. What are your thoughts on the couple? Let us know in the comment section below!
