“If you do this American adventure, we have to do it together and we have to do it with the kids”. This is what Thomas Detry’s wife, Sarah told him when he revealed his hectic schedule to her. The couple have always had each other’s backs in every stage of their lives. An incredible support system is what has helped Detry achieve his dream of PGA Tour eligibility in 2023. Ever since then, the 32-year-old has been on the hunt for his PGA Tour win.
Detry has already come close on a couple of occasions. He finished 2nd at the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship and ended up at T2 in the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open. He also has 3 more top-5 finishes to his name. There is no question that Detry has performed quite well recently. But even during his worst performances, his family has been on the course cheering on for him.
Back in September 2024, the DP World Tour shared an insightful reel on their Instagram. The title “Everything a pro golfer does 15 minutes after they finish a round 👀 #BMWPGA | #RolexSeries,” was enough to convey what the post was all about. It followed the post-round routine of Thomas Detry after he had completed a round at the BMW PGA Championship. While Detry was not a probable winner of the tournament, fans still loved following him around on the course.

The best part about the video came right at the end of it. After everything was set and done, all Detry could do was embrace his family. And that he did as Sarah and their two daughters were keenly waiting for him in the parking lot of the venue. Detry picked up Sophia and hugged his wife. Alba Elizabeth was still seated in her stroller distracted by something she spotted outside of the field of view.

This is the only post on Detry’s Instagram that shows his daughters. But the Belgian national has talked about the dynamic in his family before. Let’s see what he had to say.

Following the life of Thomas Detry
Traveling around the world with your family is not an easy task. But there is no question that both Sarah and Thomas Detry are in it together. Watching their two children tag along is only a blessing for them and their fans. But the 32-year-old doesn’t plan to live out of the suitcase all his life. At least that is what he said during an interview on Subpar with hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz.
During the interview, Detry spoke about the current arrangement of his family. He said, “Right now, we’re living out of a suitcase. We’re pretty much living week by week. I have my wife and kids traveling with me as well, so it’s not that easy.” This confirms that the Detry household still doesn’t have a base where they have settled in. But that doesn’t mean that they are compromising in any way. “We make sure to find great houses to stay in.”, said Detry as he confirmed that his family’s comfort always comes first.

But that might change shortly based on their plans. The PGA Tour pro said “We’re currently in a transition period. We’re trying to figure things out. Where would be a good place to call home?” It seems that the Detry family is looking for a place to settle down. Hinting at the possible locations they might find an adobe in, “Scottsdale is amazing, although a little far from home. Florida is definitely an option, and we’ve also considered the Caribbean. However, accessibility can be an issue.” There is no question that the bunch is considering the pros and cons of every location before looking for a home.
