Kids do change one’s life, and this year many PGA Tour pros expanded their families, like Scottie Scheffler, Rickie Fowler, and even the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open winner, J.T. Poston. For the world No. 1, it was his first child, and as for Fowler, he welcomed his third child. But did Poston also become a father for the first time, or did he have any other children?
Interestingly, the 31-year-old became a father for the first time in 2024. Poston and his wife, Kelly Poston, got married in December 2022, and after two years, they welcomed Katherine Scott Poston, or as the PGA Tour pro nicknamed her, “Scottie,” on March 20, 2024. Sharing the incredible news with the golf world, Poston posted a photo with his wife and newborn daughter on Instagram.
He also penned down a short caption for his wife and daughter and said, “3/20/24 our lives changed for the better! Katherine Scott Poston, “Scottie”, has blessed us with her arrival and we couldn’t be happier! @kellycposton is a superstar!” It has been six months since baby Poston has been traveling with her father to various events, and for the first time after two winless years, Poston secured a victory at TPC Summerlin.

In doing so, after becoming a father and having his daughter there on the course, Poston relayed at the post-win presser that it felt “unbelievable”. Talking about how the last few months of enjoying the fatherhood have been, he added, “She changes every day, every week, and so just get to go see that and be there for her and my wife has been incredible.” Although he also stated that it was a bit hectic, ‘Scottie’ taught her father one important thing in just six months, which helped him immensely in winning again.
J.T. Poston shares the 180 change after being a father
Winning a golf event gives players validation for their skills and the hard work they put into just one putt, making them better golfers. But winning is not always easy. Sometimes it takes years to win on the PGA Tour again, as it did for J.T. Poston. During those hard times, when performance declines, it’s normal for golfers to feel upset and criticize themselves.

Even Poston was being too hard on himself as he consistently missed the winner’s circle. However, once Scottie was born, the 31-year-old noted, “I feel like that’s been a little bit of a 180, and just realizing that golf is not the most important thing.” The important thing was his family, and knowing that his child would be waiting for him at home, with love in her eyes, whether he missed the cut or won an event.
And that, Poston added, “So that’s a huge win in my book.” After this, he probably started playing golf without much stress, and as he started having fun, the stars aligned, and another victory was right in his book. Though she is just a small 6-month-old baby, Scottie Poston has certainly changed her father’s life for the better.
