Hailey Davidson has become the talk of the town! They became the first transgender golfer to secure a victory at the NXXT Women’s Classic in Florida. However, this win has also landed them in the middle of a heated debate. Many fans and critics alike have shared contrasting views on their win.
Now the Olympic gold medalist athlete Caitlyn Jenner has weighed in on this situation. In the past, she has been supportive of Davidson competing in women’s golf. However, Jenner recently shared a personal plea, which has added fuel to the ongoing debate.

Caitlyn Jenner on Hailey Davidson playing in women’s golf
Recently Caitlyn Jenner shared her views on trans athletes via an article in the Daily Mail. She is herself a transgender athlete and claims she plays golf as an amateur, non-competitively, alongside men and women of all ages. Jenner, in her personal opinion, believes, “Hailey Davidson must recognize that golf is a game of integrity and withdraw from female competition.”

The 74-year-old made this statement based on the fact Davidson is still stronger than most of her competition despite transitioning. The transgender golfer claims after transitioning their hit has come down to “250 on a good day.”
But Jenner claps back, stating, “A 250-yard drive would place Davidson inside the top 13 longest-driving LGPA players today.” Furthermore, she went on to point before transitioning, Davidson could not cut PGA. But now they are running for a spot in the LPGA Tour. “How is that fair to women?” Jenner pondered.
Jenner also implored the LPGA Tour to review their gender policy set in 2010. Hailey Davidson also agrees with this topic, supporting the Tour’s decision to poll players about gender policy.

Davidson supports the LPGA Tour taking a poll
After their win at the NXXT Women’s Classic, the transgender golfer agreed to the Tour initiating an anonymous poll among players. This will allow the Tour to gather the opinions of the players. Furthermore, they are set to undergo hormone testing once again.

A point to note here is the LPGA Tour has given its full support to Hailey Davidson’s win. Their 2010 rule change to make women’s golf more inclusive is a big example of their support too. Contrary to the common perception, despite the NXXT Tour’s ties with the Epson Tour, the road to the LPGA Tour card is still an uphill climb for the transgender golfer.
