TaylorMade’s holiday advertising will have a festive touch this season as golf legend Tiger Woods transitions from playing golf to giving gifts and dons his Santa suit once more. Woods, who is well-known for his amazing golfing achievements, is taking on a new role this season by going back to his popular holiday persona, Mac Daddy Santa.

Tiger Woods transformed into Santa Claus for TaylorMade Golf this year, replicating a classic Christmas movie. For Christmas, the TaylorMade team posted a few posters to their Instagram account featuring golfers the likes of Nelly Korda and Rory McIlroy, Tiger was among them as well. On Instagram, they posted the carousel along with the caption: “We did it again! By re-creating the famous posters of some of our favorite Christmas films, #TeamTaylorMade got into the spirit of the season (yes, slide three IS a Christmas movie!).”

This imaginative portrayal honors Woods’ 2016 social media post in which he created Mac Daddy Santa, a playful custom that his children love. Tiger claimed, “Every year I’ve become this character, Mac Daddy Santa,” in a PGA Tour interview. “The kids love it. They love it when I do something crazy, and last year I burned my face off trying to dye my goatee, which is never gonna happen again.”

The custom of TaylorMade’s holiday cards featuring the golf legends

When TaylorMade introduced their inaugural holiday card in 2019, golf aficionados assumed the picture of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, and other employees was a phony, produced using PhotoShop or another image-editing tool. However, it was genuine, and as part of its own Christmas custom, the firm has made a holiday card and shared it on social media in recent seasons. This year, the theme was classic Christmas films, but instead of Macaulay Culkin in “Home Alone,” it was McIlroy fending off Morikawa and Charley Hull, Tiger Woods receiving a shock instead of Chevy Chase in “Tiger’s Vacation,” and Tommy Fleetwood parodying “Die Hard” in “Drive Hard”.

Historically, TaylorMade has taken advantage of its one opportunity to unite people to obtain the resources it requires for the holiday card. In 2020, a comical photo of Tiger Woods, Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood, Matthew Wolf, Dustin Johnson, and Rory McIlroy wearing Santa hats and climbing up a staircase was uploaded. In 2021, McIlroy encouraged Tommy Fleetwood to perform a stunt in which he stuck his tongue on a freezing street pole. Charley Hull joined the group in 2022 for a Christmas caroling session. Last year, Nelly Korda, Hull, and other golfers were toy-building elves, and Tiger Woods was Santa Claus.

Tiger Woods’s capacity to amaze and persevere is demonstrated by his Mac Daddy Santa persona. This eccentric side character serves as an appreciated reminder of his humanity in a career marked by enormous highs and heartbreaking lows. Woods has been successful in establishing a holiday custom that is as enduring as his illustrious career as supporters rejoice over another Mac Daddy Santa season
