The 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open will be a core memory for Australian golfer Min Woo Lee. The place where he etched his name on the PGA Tour and won his first title. For Min Woo Lee, it has been a long time coming. In the 2024 season, Lee finished as the runner-up in two events, missing out on a title by a whisker.
At Houston, he had a comprehensive four-stroke advantage before day 4 started, but Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland piled the pressure on the Australian. He stayed strong, however, and claimed the win, mostly because of his brilliant support system.
Min Woo Lee is very private about his personal life, rarely divulging details. Min Woo Lee’s family life
Soonam and Clara Lee immigrated to Australia in the early 1990s. It is no wonder that Min Woo Lee took up golf as both his parents were involved with golf during their early years. For Min Woo Lee’s father, golf was not just a pastime. Soonam Lee used to play the sport at a high level back when he was in Korea.
Clara Lee on the other hand was a golf coach, who introduced the sport first to Min Woo Lee. “My mom was a golf professional and started teaching at the local range when my older sister, Minjee, was born. Minjee and I grew up following Mom around at the range,” stated Min Woo Lee.
Clara Lee also held a significant influence in shaping Soonam Lee’s golfing career as well. “My dad started playing golf when he met my mom and became a plus-handicap. I didn’t love golf as a kid, but since we’re a golfing family, it’s always been a part of my life,” the Australian golfer explained how his family’s life has revolved around golf.

In fact, Min Woo Lee’s older sister is the celebrated LPGA Tour golfer Minjee Lee. Minjee Lee has two majors to her name and 10 LPGA Victories. “Minjee has won multiple major championships, and it was always clear growing up that she was going to be great. It took me longer to fall in love with golf,” her brother added. Min Woo Lee and Minjee Lee are the first brother-sister pair to have won the USGA’s junior championships.
Min Woo Lee has claimed his first-ever PGA Tour victory at Houston, but he will be looking to emulate or surpass his sister’s feats on the LPGA Tour. Here’s to more success for the Lee family!
