Collin Morikawa has achieved a lot at just the age of 27. Having turned pro in 2019, he started playing on the PGA Tour full-time the next season. In four years, he has already bagged six wins. This includes two major victories. He won the 2020 PGA Championship in San Francisco and the 2021 British Open. The American professional was ranked the world’s No. 2-ranked golfer in October 2021. He is currently the fourth-best golfer in the world. While all of this has been the sweet fruit of his hard work, there has also been another steering force for him.

The unwavering support of his wife, Katherine Zhu. “Kat has been by my side through it all,” he said following his maiden major victory in 2020. “She would hate me if I didn’t say this, but I didn’t start winning in college until she showed up in my life, so thanks, Kat.” Thanks to golf, Morikawa got to meet the love of his life.

Katherine Zhu attended Pepperdine University to pursue International Management and was herself a rather talented golfer. She played for her college team. On the other hand, Collin Morikawa went to the University of California-Berkeley, and he too was a part of the college team. It is because of their shared interest in golf, the couple met each other.

They reportedly started dating in 2017. The two love going out on dates together and exploring new places. Collin Morikawa posted a photo with Zhu from one of their dates together for the first time on May 29, 2017. He wittily enough captioned the picture, “Probably not a good idea to take your date to a rooftop when she’s afraid of heights 😜”

Collin Morikawa did not waste much time making their relationship a permanent one. He soon turned his girlfriend into his fiancée and then his wife.

Collin Morikawa got engaged to Katherine Zhu right after he graduated

Collin Morikawa had an exceptional year in 2021, claiming victories at the World Golf Championship, the Open Championship, and the DP World Tour Championship. While his success on the course was remarkable, he also had something special to celebrate off it. On November 30, 2021, Morikawa announced his engagement. He shared a picture of them both, with Zhu flexing her engagement ring, and captioned it, “My forever and ever, I love you @katherinezhuu ❤️.”

Exactly a year later, the couple got married in an intimate black-and-white ceremony on November 26, 2022, at Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles. “We found each other by chance, but we chose to share our lives and dreams,” Morikawa said. “Marriage means being in love with each other for the rest of our lives.”
