The biggest support one could get on the golf course is from their partner, and for 20 years, Bubba Watson has had his wife, Angie Watson, beside him. Whether he was on the PGA Tour or LIV Golf, Angie Watson always stuck together through thick and thin. The 48-year-old never left his side. So how did the two first met? In 1997, the University of Georgia recruited Angie from Canada for the basketball team, Lady Dogs.
In a similar timeframe, Bubba Watson also started at UGA, but for their golf team. Both wanted to make their professional careers and in 2001, Angie Watson achieved that dream of playing in the WNBA as she signed with Charlotte Stings. Because of an ankle injury, Angie unfortunately returned to UGA for rehabilitation.
At that time, she bumped into Watson while playing a pickup game of basketball with her teammates. They had the spark, and the two planned to play a round of golf for their first date.

However, the 2-time major winner doesn’t regard their first date on the golf course as a date. They went to an eater for their second. On the other hand, Angie debated, “Our first date was a round of golf, but apparently in the world of professional golf, playing golf is not a date. But I think spending four hours on a golf course with somebody you just met and you’re attracted to is a date in my book.”
Interstingly, Watson had a crush on Angie for over a year before she graduated but never had it in him to share his feelings. But fate had already written the two as a couple and thus, they met.

While the debate about the first date advances, Angie Watson revealed she did not share such an intimate detail on her first date with Bubba Watson. But what was the detail? The former WNBA pro told Watson she couldn’t have any kids. Significantly, she decided to share it early in the relationship, in case it was the LIV Golf pro’s deal breaker.
Fortunately, it was not. To this, Watson replied, “That’s fine. If God tells us he wants us to adopt, we’ll adopt.” Soon after, they adopted their two children later in their lives. The adoption process started a few years into their relationship, but only on their fourth try, they received the approval to adopt their first child, Caleb Watson. He was a month-old baby. Moreover, Angie and Bubba Watson adopted him in 2012, a month before his first green jacket victory.
