Canadian golfer Mackenzie Hughes, faced a setback at the 2023 Travelers Championship as he was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to an unforeseen illness. He encountered severe discomfort in his lower back while on a charter flight from the U.S. Open to the Travelers Championship. Upon landing, Hughes was promptly taken to a nearby hospital by an ambulance, where a CT scan revealed the presence of a 4 mm kidney stone. After this incident, Hughes tweeted and also expressed his disappointment at having to withdraw from one of his beloved tournaments. According to Golf Injury Report on Twitter, MacKenzie Hughes had been seen arriving late for the tournament’s first round. Reports suggest that he squeezed in just ten warm-up shots before teeing off.
