In a heartwarming twist, Steve Stricker, the 2021 Ryder Cup captain, secured his second major victory of the year at the Senior PGA Championship. However, this triumph held a deeper significance as his daughter, Izzi, stood by his side as his Caddie. Steve took to Twitter to share his feelings and said, “You killed it Izzi Stricker! Thanks for being my side. A week I’ll never forget.”

Facing off against Padraig Harrington, Stricker emerged victorious on the first playoff hole of the 83rd KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship. He clinched his sixth major title on the senior circuit, adding to his earlier triumph at the 2023 Regions Tradition, where he was accompanied by Joe LaCava Jr. Stricker decided to keep it in the family by entrusting Izzi with the responsibilities this time around at Fields Ranch East.

The dynamic between Stricker and Izzi spoke volumes about the significance of this victory. While any major win is cause for celebration, the presence of a child on the bag amplifies the joy and pride. It is a testament to the special connection between a parent and their offspring.

This remarkable championship triumph marked Steve Stricker’s sixth major title on the Tour Champions while solidifying his status as a formidable force in the golfing world. As for Izzi, her talent shines through as she previously clinched the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 1 girls’ golf state title during her high school junior year. Following in the footsteps of her mother and sister, she has committed to playing college golf at the University of Wisconsin.

Bonding on the path to victory

During the post-round interview, reporters inquired about his experience with his daughter as his Caddie, and it brought Steve Stricker to tears. Overwhelmed with emotion, he expressed how special it was for him to share this major victory with her.

“She did an incredible job. It was such a joy to have her by my side this week. She really exceeded expectations,” Stricker said, his voice choked with emotion when talking about Izzi.
