Golf is finally matching the hype of the NBA and the NFL. While the viewership is still a far cry, as far as transfer rumors are concerned, golf fans are witnessing something unbeknownst to the game. Previously, shocking rumors claimed that Jon Rahm was not the only high-profile player switching sides this year. Following in his footsteps was none other than the former world no.1, Jason Day.

Before the firestorm even subdued, a golf insider now lambasts these claims as nothing but hot air. Terming the report as purely “speculation” the sports journalist confirms something that would draw a big smile from Jay Monahan.

Jason Day grabs headlines once again

NuclrGolf tweeted earlier today that the Australian golfer Jason Day is mulling over an LIV Golf switch. The fan community page on X (formerly Twitter), said Polish star Adrian Meronk and the Australian Pro are two golfers who might be shaking hands with Greg Norman soon.

However, an Australian golf insider now puts a huge question mark on the authenticity of this. It should be noted that Jon Rahm’s defection to the breakaway league is not confirmed either.

Hours after their initial tweet, NuclrGolf retweeted Evin Priest’s claim that the reports were totally false. In fact, the golf insider at the Big Post Breakfast also noted that Jason Day, who recently topped Cameron Smith as the No.1 Australian Golfer in the OWGR rankings, has confirmed his presence on the PGA Tour next year.

While there was no report of Meronk, the former world no.1’s retention will draw a breather to Jay Monahan, who stands at risk of losing one of the star players and a committed golfer to the rival league. The speculation rose with a British media report claiming insider sources have confirmed Rahm’s defection.

The report that caused a conflagration

Earlier today The Telegraph reported that Jon Rahm has found a few traveling companions to the Saudi-backed side. As per the report, the Spaniard is set to join Greg Norman-fronted league for a staggering $550+ million and helm his team as well.

Apparently, an insider in the DP World Tour confirmed these speculations. The former Ryder Cupper, whose name was not revealed, spoke to the British daily about Meronk, and Day’s defection as well. However, as of now, it is purely speculative.

Notably, Xander Schauffele, who was also tipped to join the Saudi-backed side, confirmed his presence at the PGA Tour’s signature event, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am next year, effectively sealing his next year with the Tour. Jason Day, most recently, finished at the eleventh place at the Hero World Challenge.
