No doubt the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour has come a long way from what it used to be. There has been much elevation in the prize money and with more exposure on national and international platforms. But it also cannot be denied that compared to the men’s PGA Tour, the Ladies Tour still doesn’t get many facilities it deserves.
In several situations, the LPGA Tour has had to compromise on the most basic facilities. At the beginning of the year, golfers Matilda Castren and Ryann O’Toole had expressed their disappointment over improper parking spaces and lack of locker rooms and restrooms. And now the LPGA has been hit with another blow.

The PGA Tour has always provided top-notch facilities for its tour players. Treated with the best of everything, the male players don’t have to face the same disadvantages that a female golfer faces. And now, going an extra mile, the PGA Tour is working on some big changes to make things easier for the golfer’s families for the upcoming season. On November 10, Eric Baldwin, the Tour’s VP/Tournament Business Operations and Fan Engagement, released a memo.
In the document, new requirement requests have been placed for the right nutrition and dining for the golfers, their caddies, and their families. Moreover, additional facilities for the families on the course have also been requested in the memo. Among other things, it lists, “…private and convenient location on the course that offers a flushable restroom, water, and dry snacks that will be available on both the front 9 and back 9.”
In the upcoming season, the Tour will put its focus on “on-site and convenient parking options for players, spouses, caddies, coaches, agents/managers, player families and other player support team constituents.” Many wives, families, and girlfriends often visit the players during the tournament or in practice sessions. So, the PGA Tour is going out of its way to make things more accessible for them.
The @PGATOUR is requiring tournaments to make a number of enhancements in 2024, with many focused on player families, caddies and teams.

Though this a good practice for the WAGs, it definitely is a reason for sore eyes for the female league. The lady players sometimes have had to request for basic amenities like a locker room and bathroom.

The two ladies leagues coming together could do wonders for both the Tour and the players. Under such a situation, the worries of LPGA are on the rise. After all, the female golfers who work just as hard as the male golfers deserve the same basic amenities and other facilities. What do you think?
