Only hours after blasting critics for “pathetic” comments, LIV Golf Pro leaves another strong message for his fans and haters alike. This time taking a more somber tone, he addresses the trolls directly who disgraced his son. The veteran golfer certainly didn’t expect the netizens to be so ruthless with a young kid.

What was supposed to be a proud moment as a father, quickly became a nightmare for the veteran golfer as Instagram users brutally criticized his teenage son. Criticisms, that the LIV Golf Pro felt were utterly rubbish and unjustified. Now addressing the children of those people, the linksman advises them to not follow their parents’ mindset.

LIV Golf Rebel leaves a parenting lesson

Ian Poulter was dismayed at the harsh criticism that multiple Instagram users subjected his son to. So, not content with leaving a lengthy comment defending his 19-year-old son,  Poulter decided to impart a parenting lesson on his Instagram story. The 47-year-old golfer advises the kids to not follow the guidelines from their parents who left those comments. “Those children please don’t listen or take much notice to (sic) the parenting skills that guide you.”

Instead of what he feels being jealous of other’s success, they should follow their dreams, and work rigorously to achieve their dreams. “Work incredibly hard and become extremely successful in whatever you choose.” And for the parents, he had only one simple message, “Please guide your children with confidence and thrive.” 

Poulter believes he has inculcated these values in his son. The former PGA Tour pro, wrote, “ If you do manage to become successful at golf with Luke I know that he will shake your hand at the end of a round as he has been taught to be an upstanding young man.” After defending his son earlier, once again, Poulter heaps praise on his teenage son.

It all started when some fans subjected Luke Poulter to brutal criticism because of his privileged background. For them, the teenager had no right to lecture the world about the importance of hard work.

Why the netizens had a go at the young golfer?

Golf Channel posted a clip of Luke Poutler on the greens asking what advice he would give to upcoming golfers. The 19-year-old NCAA golfer, who won his first amateur title last year, spoke of the importance of hard work. However, that didn’t sit well with some fans.

They pointed out that the situation for an aspiring golfer without a strong family background like teenage Poulter, is pretty different. Some fans went to the extent of discrediting the young golfer. The insinuation was that having Ian Poulter as a father made it all too easy for the University of Florida Men’s Golf Team linksman.

Ian Poulter thinks differently. He values hard work and as he said earlier, his son had to work hard to get into this position. The former PGA Tour pro wants everyone to take note of that.
