Hodges entered the final round following the first three magnificent rounds of 63, 64, and 66. JT Poston and Tony Finau were the closest competitors to Hodges as he entered the final round on Sunday with a five-shot lead.

As the final round began, the 28-year-old dominated the field with his birdie at the second hole and an eagle-three at the fifth. After the two shots, the victory seemed pretty near to Hodges, but he wasn’t ready to stop. He continued his stellar game with a bogey on the ninth hole and yet another eagle on the 12th. With two more bogeys on the 15th and 17th and two more birdies on the 16th and 18th, the golfer secured his win.

The 28-year-old closed the event in style. And what a well-closed maiden victory worth $1.404 million it was with a spectacular birdie! He wedged 18 inches from 115 yards. According to Irish Golfer, in the aftermath of his win, Hodges said, “I thought I was super aggressive.”

The golfer commended himself for hitting his best shots and said, “Anytime you hit two 3-woods inside 10 feet, you’re being pretty aggressive. Those were two of the greatest shots I ever hit. Wish I maybe would have been a little less aggressive with my putter; I ran a couple by there late, but whatever, it all worked out.”

It was not easy for the 28-year-old golfer to win. His nearest competitor, JT Poston, gave him a tough and aggressive fight all through the final round, even with an expensive tripe bogey at the final hole. Hodges realized that he had won the event even before it was concluded, but he didn’t allow it to reach his head.

Hodges tried to stay focused on his game

In his interview after his victory, he said that after he hit the third shot on the 18th, it was the first time he realized he was about to win. But he did not let that feeling overshadow his shot, and instead, he decided to focus on what he was doing, and his focus was the reason that he was able to play such nice golf at TPC Twin Cities. The 28-year-old also said that he would try to play good golf more often.
