Lexi Thompson is one of the big names on the women’s golf circuit. Last month, she had an outstanding outing in the patriotic event at Finca Cortesin, Spain. She triumphed in three out of four matches at the Solheim Cup.
Earlier this month, she received a PGA Tour invite for one of its events, the Shriners Children’s Open, taking place in Las Vegas. As the news circulated, a PGA Tour pro passed a degrading comment on her. But now an LPGA Pro has got Thompson’s back.

Lexi Thompson’s incredible performances over the years have secured her the invite — in all honesty. She’s the fifth golfer after Babe Didrikson Zaharias, Annika Sorenstam, Michelle Wie West, and Brittany Lincicome to have got this opportunity.
As the news came to the attention of one of the PGA Tour pros, he mocked the LPGA girl and called the entire thing “a gimmick”. LPGA pro Brittany Lincicome, however, has appreciated Thompson.
She backed the LPGA star, saying, “Yeah, I thought it was very cool. Actually shocked she’s never done it before. She hits it so far, pretty accurate. I think she’s going to do great. Obviously rooting for her as hard as I can.”
In the press conference at the Ascendant LPGA benefiting Volunteers of America, she further added, “ I think it’s great that women are doing it. Just brings more exposure to us and women’s golf. Who doesn’t love that?” She exclaimed that this was a great honor for women’s golf. Contrary to Lincicome’s words, the PGA Tour pro made a ludicrous comment on this. Let’s see what he said.

The third event of the FedEx fall season is kicking off on October 12 at TPC Summerlin. Lexi Thompson will be making an appearance in the Shriners Children’s Open to compete with male golfers. The opportunity she got was because of a special exemption.
But as the news came to the attention of Peter Malnati, he referred to it as a bit of a stretch. He even highlighted this move as more of “a gimmick”. And a petty advertisement by the tournament to “drum up interest”! But soon realizing that he had crossed the line, he tried to gather his words and said, “I don’t know that having Lexi play is a gimmick”. What do you think of Lexi Thompson playing in a PGA event?
