The love and adoration Rickie Fowler enjoys among his fans is hard to find these days. Despite his bad luck of not winning a single tournament in the last few years, his fans stood by him. Their prayers were eventually answered as he at last triumphed at the Rocket Mortgage Classic a couple of months back.
However, after his latest outing with Tiger Woods on Tuesday, Fowler will be disappointing his fans. Fowler’s fans, who were hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite player before the Ryder Cup, have been sold down the river, if truth be told.

The resurgence year of Fowler — fueled his win at Rocket Mortgage — played a big role in his selection as the captain’s pick in Team US’s Ryder Cup squad. And with the important event just two weeks away, Fowler has his priorities set straight.
Despite being an active PGA Tour player who participates in almost every tournament on the Tour, Fowler chose to skip this week’s Fortinet Championship which is being held in California. He is directly performing in the Ryder Cup after two weeks, leaving his fans heartbroken.
His contemporaries Justin Thomas, Zach Johnson, Stuart Clink, and Max Homa, who won the previous two editions, will be playing in the event. The event is being held at Silverado Resort and Spa – North Course, Napa Valley, California, and has a prize purse of $8,400,000, but Fowler has chosen to skip all events before the Ryder Cup, unlike captain Johnson and fellow squad member Thomas.

Yesterday he was visited by Rickie Fowler and Will Zalatoris and the three players even practiced some rounds at Liberty National. When somebody asked him what tips he would give amateurs, somebody in the background yelled: “Don’t watch F—king YouTube.” Woods broke out laughing. The advisor continued: “Go hit balls… just beating balls.”
Woods did not add his opinion to these. Looks like he approves. Fans on Twitter gave their heartfelt reaction to these tips. Fowler was not a part of this banter. No need to worry; he will be entertaining his fans at the Ryder Cup in Rome later this month.
