The golfers have a way of taking playful jabs at each other. And we have seen quite a bit of that with the recent Solheim Cup outcome with Nelly Korda thanking Charley Hull for a humbling a** whooping. But does his happen post-tournament only? Not always. Fans are going to witness LIV Golf vs PGA Tour in December this year in Las Vegas, as the top pros from both leagues will go head to head with each other for The Match, and it seems that the lighthearted jibes have started.
LIV Golf superstar and 5x major winner Brooks Koepka recently made a statement about Scottie Scheffler. But why did Koepka say something almost 4 months ahead of the match? Well, allow us to explain. In a recent interview with Smash GC, he talked about his beef with Bryson DeChambeau, who will be his teammate in the upcoming showdown. And we all know the drama between DeChambeau and Koepka. Take the time when Koepka called out DeChambeau’s slow play and said, “It’s not that hard” to hit a golf ball, for example.
Another time was when DeChambeau mocked Koepka’s abs on Twitch, and the list goes on. However, Koeoka said, they were over it. “Yeah, we’re done.” When asked, “Was there a moment where you guys shook hands and you said, ‘Okay, beef ended’?” said the host. Kopeka continued with, “Yeah, I think it was. I think, obviously, the live conversation that was kind of the big turning point.”

But the juicy part came after this conversation when Koepka said, “Hopefully he’s not arrested on the way to the course,” taking a lighthearted jab at Scottie Scheffler who was arrested for a second-degree assault of a police officer and reckless driving during the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship. The charges were dropped, but the golfer became quite the talk of the town for days. Even the PGA Tour pros like Xander Schauffele roasted Scheffler for his arrest.

Schauffele mentioned that he and a few other pros have a group chat with their crew and physio and they changed the display picture of that group to Scheffler’s mug shot that went quite viral. So, it seems like the golfers are keeping it nice and friendly between them before the showdown in Las Vegas. Even Bryson DeChambeau is excited about the game and is eagerly looking forward to it.
What does Bryson DeChambeau think of the awaited duel?

DeChambeau is pretty excited about the match in Las Vegas, and honestly, he sees this event as a “great opportunity” to bring golf’s biggest stars together more often. Everyone knows that golf world has been divided since LIV Golf’s inception, and this could be a fun way to show the world how fun golf can be if there were no barriers of any sort.“It’s a way to show golf fans in the world that this is what could happen or these are the possibilities going forward. I’ve been saying this for a long time,” DeChambeau said.
