History Repeats for Tiger Woods at TGL as His Team Suffers a Brutal Setback Amid All the Laughs, Per Reports

Tiger Woods was once at the top of the charts. He was the world’s top golfer for 683 weeks, which is more than 13 years. He also holds the record for the most consecutive weeks at number one, with 281 weeks from 2005 to 2010. However, age has been catching up to the 49-year-old, and of course not to forget the series of injuries that he has been through. After the major car accident in 2021, he reduced the number of games he plays per year, and with that, his ranks also fell. 

Last year, according to the official PGA Tour stats, in 2024, Tiger Woods was hitting the green in regulation on just 49.49% of his attempts, highlighting a significant area for improvement in his game. However, his long game is better. Tiger Woods has hit 106 fairways, with a driving accuracy of 68.83%. But how are his or rather his team’s stats in TGL?

Jupiter Links Golf Club entered the Tuesday round in the lead among the TGL teams with the highest par 3 birdie or the better rate at 14.7%, highlighting their strong performance on shorter holes. On the other hand, Los Angeles Golf Club, featuring players like Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, and Justin Rose, boasts the best fairway accuracy record at 65.7%. However, the comparison statistics changed after the round.

LAGC defeated Tiger Woods’s team by an exceptional 12-1 score. A few hours ago, the official Instagram page of TGL shared the updated statistics. LAGC’s Fairway hits have surged to a whopping 70%, and GIR to 46.7%. And for the Jupiter Links Golf Club, their fairway hit has dropped down to 50%, and GIR has massively reduced to 26.7%. Nonetheless, both the teams did put up a great fight, and it was a thrilling sight to witness. But Tiger Woods did also have the time of his life, thanks to Kevin Kisner. 

Kisner’s drive landed in a bunker, and his attempt to recover nearly sent the ball into the fan-filled stands. Instead, the ball struck the flagstick with a sharp bounce, rolling into the rough on the opposite side. His Jupiter teammates, Tiger Woods and Max Homa, along with the entire Los Angeles Golf Club team, couldn’t help but laugh. “Hardest I have ever laughed”, said Max Homa about the shot while Woods said, “I didn’t think anyone could get hit out here. Kis almost killed somebody.” 

While 82x Tour winner faced defeat on the grounds, his off-the-ground statistics rose pretty high after the second match.

TGL sees massive rise in viewership after Tiger Woods’s debut

Tiger Woods, the headline player and co-founder of TGL, opted out of the league’s first night, waiting an additional week to make his debut. This move was widely seen as a strategic decision to maintain high interest and buzz for the new venture. It was a wise choice, indeed.

ESPN reported on Wednesday that the second TGL match attracted 4M new and an average of 1 million viewers. This marked a 9% increase in viewership compared to the inaugural match on January 7. The viewership reached its highest at 1.1 million from 8:30 to 8:45 pm, and that remained in the 1 million range between 7:30 pm and past 9:00 pm.

The match did go on eighteen minutes longer than it was expected to run, and that did create chaos. But it did manage to garner a lot of attention to the league, and well that too is a win for Tiger Woods after all.
