One of the most reputed and coveted men?s golf tournaments has finally begun at Los Angeles Country Club. The first day of the tournament was nothing less than historic and remarkable for golfers and spectators alike. Highly celebrated golfers Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele had put down similar record-making scores on the board! But there was one little blunder at Schauffele’s end.
If that blunder had come into motion, it would have cost the golfer his chance to become the 2023 US Open champion. The possible debacle was, however, avoided, but it did make golf fans agitated and anxious!

The most decorated and highly accredited golfers are fighting for pride, honor, glory, and the winner?s share of $3.6 million out of the total purse of $20 million. The historic score of 8 under 62 was put on the scoreboard during the championship?s opening round, initially by Fowler, which was just broken in 22 minutes by the 29-year-old.
It has now come to the fans’ attention that the golfer?s historic score could have easily gone in vain, and things would have gone south pretty fast. Dylan Detheir, a writer with the golf magazine, pointed out that Schauffele had two corrections in his official scorecard.
He posted a snapshot of his scorecard, and there were just too many blunders in it. The event was dated wrong; the date written on the official card was back in 2021. The golfer had put in the wrong score on the 7th and 10th holes and had to sign his initials to mark the corrections.

The golfer could have lost his hard work in just a few seconds and could have possibly gotten disqualified from the tournament if he had submitted the wrong scorecard. The almost gaffe quickly grabbed a lot of attention from the fans.

A fan pointed out an even bigger issue.
Given the wrong date the entire field should be disqualified for signing incorrect scorecards. Bite me USGA!
