The 2024 LPGA Tour season is set to begin this week. The 2024 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions is the curtain-raiser event of the LPGA Tour that will take place from January 18 to January 21 at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Florida. 

It is an exclusive event that only invites LPGA Tour winners from the last two seasons. This year, 35 of them will battlе it out at Lakе Nona, including 13 Rolеx First Timе winners who have made their mark in the past two years. However, what would intrigue the fans are the details of the star-studded field.

The top contenders for the 2024 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions

The event started first as a PGA Tour Champions event, where some golfers played together with some LPGA Tour players. Since 2019 it has bеcomе thе the first еvеnt of thе LPGA Tour sеason. The event is unique as it is packed with immensely talented players from the likes of the current world No. 1 to the former number 1 player. The female golfers will go head-to-head against each other for the $1.5 million prize money.

1. Lilia Vu: The top-ranked female golfer in the world at the moment is Lilia Vu. The two major wins, that is, the 2023 Chevron Championship and the 2023 Women’s British Open helped her become the world number 1. The 2x Major Champion is in good form; she won the Annika as well. Moreover, she added yet another top-10 placement to her numbers during the CME Group Tour Championship when she finished T4.

The four-time LPGA Tour champ would be looking to start her 2024 season with a bang. The 2023 Player of the Year Award winner is truly a fan favorite at the upcoming event.

2. Ruoning Yin: The Chinese athlete has already proved herself to be a reckoning force on the greens. She finished at T8 at the Grant Thornton Invitational, where she scored 21 under after three rounds. She was also able to finish at T6 in November at the CME Group Tour Championship, and T7 at the ANNIKA.

Currently placed 2nd on the Rolex rankings, she has a chance to get close to jumping to the first spot with a victory. She is determined to lift the trophy.

3. Brooke Henderson: The runner-up of the Grant Thornton Invitational, is the defending champion of the event. The 2023 win of HGV TOC was her 13th career LPGA Tour victory. With a score of 17 under, she finished at T6 at the Maybank Championship, followed by a remarkable performance at the ANNIKA, where she finished T19. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old would be looking to defend her title in the opening event of the season.

4. Nelly Korda: The youngest of the Korda sisters will start the season to make more from it, as her last season was without a win. The world no. 5’s last event was the Grant Thornton Invitational, where she played well but didn’t clinch the trophy and finished at T4. She had finished the year with a total of 8 top-10 finishes and 4 top-5 finishes. The 25-year-old would be hoping to find her momentum and kick off the season with a win.

5. Charley Hull: Despite facing setbacks from injuries, Hull performed well, and her last result was T9 at the Grant Thornton Invitational.  A T16 finish at the CME Group Tour Championship in November is enough proof of her talent on the course. After coming from a winless season, she would be looking for a victory to add to her name this week. Apart from these strong golfers, one can also enjoy watching celebrities on the field.

Celebrity Headliners of the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions

The Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions will feature a star-studded lineup of celebrities as well. Among the celebrities, fans can look forward to seeing former soccer star Landon Donovan, who will make his debut at the event, and World Series champion John Smoltz. Comedian Larry thе Cablе Guy, actor Jack Wagnеr, “The Bachelor” stars Ben Higgins and Wills Adams will also join the family, along with World Golf Hall of Famer Annika Sorеnstam.
