John Daly and Tiger Woods are names that anyone who’s ever remotely heard about golf, knows very well. Both pf these golfers have been on good terms since they turned professional. In the sports world, it is okay to have some friendly banter. But sometimes, that banter can outright turn into mocking, and lead to possible rifts between players.

One such incident happened when Woods once mocked Daly in front of 2000 people. Daly finally devised an epic response, like his own epic personality. Last year, he revealed his true feelings about the incident and how it all transpired.

John Daly talks banter with Tiger Woods

Last year in April, John Daly went to the ‘Late Night With Conan O’Brien’ show. There, the Conan and Daly talked about Daly not liking exercises, hating healthy foods, his unusual sponsors, and his tricked-out golf cart. During this conversation, Daly mentioned an incident with former No. 1., Tiger Woods. Conan asked about Daly’s sponsor. Usually athletes and sportspersons go for sponsors like Nike or Adidas. But Daly having an unusual sponsors like Dunkin Donuts, raised questions that Conan wanted to know the answer to.

To which Daly mentioned how Woods mocked him for his sponsor choice. Daly was playing with Phil, and Hank, and Woods beat him. After the match, they all went to a big tent where they got to talk to the sponsors. There were about 2000 people. Tiger said to Daly, “Yeah, that’s really cool, JD. Dunkin donuts and Trimspa.”

To which Daly very wittily replied, “Hey Tiger, you know what? It’s better than AA and Miller light.” It seems Daly got the last laugh!

Woods narrates a fun story about Daly

Woods and Daly have been good friends for years now. They often share each other’s stories and recall the fun time that they spent with each other. The PGA Championship in 2007 was a tough time for all the golfers. It was scorching outside. Everyone was trying to stay hydrated. But Daly, with his colorful personality, chose an alternative drink and a fun way to stay hydrated, which worked well for him.

Both Woods and Daly took part in the 2022 PGA Championship. Woods was asked about his win 15 years ago and what he recalls about it. All Woods could remember was the heat, as it was 109 degrees outside that day. He asked Daly about his water intake. Daly said he had thirteen diet cokes!
