Recently, Nicklaus shared his opinions about the ongoing LIV Golf vs PGA Tour rivalry. The pro golfer shared what he feels about the new changes made by the Tour and its predicted impact on its legacy.

Nicklaus is no stranger to anyone involved in the world of golf. The retired pro golfer has had a legacy of being so highly skilled at the sport that his talent is incomparable.
Jack serves as an inspiration to golf fanatics all around. Nicklaus has made a choice of sticking to the PGA Tour.
Nicklaus confirmed that he turned down a $100 million offer to become the CEO of LIV Golf a few months back.He said, “
I turned it down. Once verbally, and once in writing. I said, ‘Guys, I have to stay with the PGA Tour. I helped start the PGA Tour.’”

How did the Golf World react to Jack’s new comments?
Twitter World was filled with back-to-back reactions on hearing the big news. As soon as the retired pro golfer’s comments made their way online, golf lovers turned into a frenzy. Golf fans from all around the world started to pour in their diverse reactions to this big announcement. The majority of the reactions were pertaining to Nicklaus’s business dealings with the Saudis. At the same time, some of the fans also applauded him for maintaining his legacy on the PGA Tour.
What you refer to as pittance has to be viewed in the context of the value of money then and the relative increase it represented. Motivations were similar. Nicklaus does business with Saudis today, so he’s no saint.

Nicklaus had to turn it down. He did help launch the PGA Tour. It would have killed his legacy. However, Norman and Phil have every reason to launch the LIV Tour. It was time to create competition and mix it up. Good luck to them. They’ve already made a mark in less than a year.
