Over the years, we have heard several Tiger Woods stories. Some depict his greatness while others describe his struggles. Nonetheless, the golfer is widely considered as someone who has helped in elevating the sport of golf internationally. Today, we take a look back at one unheard story, when an effortless Tiger schooled his former Tour pros.
Tiger Woods has earned the perception of being a golf geek around the course, teaching his fellow golfers the do’s and don’t’s of the sport. Being a senior and having won 15 Major titles, it is understandable for Woods to teach the youngsters his techniques.

However, back in 2002, Tiger displayed his greatness to Tour pros John Cook and Mark O’Meara, when he showed the duo how to swing a 3- iron. Returning from back-to-back Majors wins, Tiger Woods didn’t miss even while being shirtless.
Tiger Woods schools his fellow Tour pros
John Cook revealed that ahead of the 2002 Open Championship in Muirfield, he and Mark O’Meara were trying to hit 3-irons down to the green from nearly 220 yards out at Isleworth. During their practice session, they see shirtless Tiger Woods returning from his jog.
Cook said, “He’s got no shirt on, he’s wearing sunglasses, his hat is turned backward and he’s sweating like crazy. He sees us, and he stops to watch, but he doesn’t say anything”. John Cook reveals that Woods then asked them what they were doing, to which Cook replied, “We tell him we’re trying to hit these longer clubs higher in the air”.

Tiger Woods, still in his running shoes, asks for Cook’s 3- iron. John Cook and Mark O’Meara then point out Tiger their target which was nearly 245 yards out. However, that wasn’t much of an issue for the 15-time Major winner, as he struck the ball right into the middle of that green.
Woods then handed the club back to John Cook and said, “Just do that”. A shocked John Cook looks at Mark and says, “We’re trying to beat that?” The duo then decide to pack their clubs and get more closer to the hole for a putting session. Cook ends by saying, “I’m going to go over here and putt more; maybe that will help”.
The story gravitates around the hard work and dedication of Woods. Even after a 6-mile run, he didn’t fail to find the perfect accuracy on the course. Though he fell short to win the Grand Slam that year, he still finished the 2002 PGA Tour season with the most wins. A shirtless Tiger with swinging with 3- iron into the green while wearing running shoes, surely it has to be one of the best stories about the 46-year-old.
