On his way to winning the second major of the year, Scottie Scheffler was brought into huge misery! That, too, was probably caused by a misunderstanding. ESPN reported that the world no. 1 was detained as he reached the gates of Valhalla. Why though? Per the reports shared by ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington on X, Scheffler was arrested because he tried to pass a police car amidst the traffic flow to reach the PGA Championships greens.

Eventually, the police officer attached his car to that of Scheffler’s, and once the new dad stopped at the entrance of Valhalla, he was asked to step out of the vehicle. Scheffler followed the order and was immediately detained by the police officer in his car. Darlington also reported that the Louisville PD told him nothing could be done now; “he’s going to jail.”

From the newsroom of SportsCentre, Darlington relived the moments he witnessed during Scheffler’s arrest. The reporter said that everything happened too quickly to understand what was going on. Scheffler was driving into Valhalla when the officer started yelling. Possibly, the 27-year-old didn’t hear the voice at first, but when he did, he lowered down. Per Darlington, the officer in charge reached into the car and grabbed Scheffler by the arm. Additionally, when Darlington and Scheffler made eye contact, the reporters recalled the world no. 1 mouthing, “Please, help me.”

Will the 10-time PGA Tour winner return to Valhalla by the time he has to start the round? Will the second round of the PGA Championship be as usual?  The answers to these remain to be found.

When will Scottie Scheffler tee up at Valhalla after his arrest?

In the morning hours, near 5 a.m., there was a fatal car crash near the Valhalla Golf Club. Due to this, the second round of the PGA Championship was delayed by 1 hour and 20 minutes. Regardless of how long or short a time Scheffler has to spend in jail, his time would be changed to 10:08 a.m. What would happen if World No. 1 failed to reach the tee box by the scheduled tee time? Rule 5.3 states that the inability to start the round by the given time may result in disqualification from the event. However, it all depends on the decision of the committee, which in this case is the PGA of America.

Scheffler might even be given exceptional circumstances, and the committee may give him leeway to start the round later than expected. But the twist is that the Louisville Metropolitan Department of Correction has booked Scheffler at 7:28 a.m. It states, “No visitation until the inmate has been classified and moved to a housing unit.” What will be the result of Scottie Scheffler’s arrest, and when will he be out of jail? Stay tuned to find out.
