The last time we saw Tiger Woods compete on the professional circuit was in the second round of the 2024 Open Championship way back in July. The golf legend didn’t make the cut and excited the tournament on the second day. Ever since then, there have been many reports stating the deteriorating condition of the 82x PGA Tour winner.

Woods has stayed mum about his condition for the past few months. Apart from the general understanding that he is injured, there have been no reports of the severity of the injury or the possible date of return.

Tiger Woods was scheduled to feature in the event he hosts this weekend, the 2024 Hero World Challenge. However, a few weeks ago, it was confirmed that Woods will not be competing in this tournament as well due to health concerns.

Now, the day finally arrived as Tiger Woods was seated at the press conference of the 2024 Hero World Challenge in front of many keen reporters looking for answers. A lot of topics were discussed, including Woods’s opinion about the controversial $400,000 payout Team U.S. might receive in the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Then the biggest question of the hour was finally asked, when will Tiger Woods return to competing? As addressed by @NUCLRGOLF on their X account, Mr. T replied, “I’m not tournament sharp… I’m not sharp enough to compete at this level. I need to keep training to give myself the best chance at competing next year.”

A report asked Woods if he was still planning to work towards his goal of playing at least one tournament a month. After a moment of thought, the GOAT replied, “I didn’t think my back was going to go like it did this year. It was quite painful throughout the end of the year and had another procedure done on to it to alleviate the pain I had going down my leg,” as he explained the struggles he has faced recently. Woods further added, “My commitments going forward for once a month, yeah I could say that all over again but I truly don’t know.”

@TWlegion shared another tweet adding more details to the conversation. They said, “‘I know what to expect coming out of it. The relief I had. Didn’t have the spasm, didn’t have the nerve pain. I still have a long road ahead of me with rehab and recovery.’ Wonder if Augusta is the target or something prior.” A minute later, they added another tweet: “🚨Tiger says his back progressively got worse last year as time went on. Says he has no target for when he’ll be able to return. Says he’s progressively testing and making progress. ‘Feel like I’m getting stronger but I got a long way to go to compete.'”

It seems that there are still no clear signs of when we will see Tiger Woods come back to competitive golf again. This has left the fans disappointed as they reacted to the news on the tweet. Let’s see what they had to say.

“Love tiger [Woods]. That said….,he’s cooked”

Fans were understandably disheartened to learn that their favorite golfer was suffering from such severe injuries. They were even more distraught to learn that Tiger Woods is not sure when he will come back to competitive golf. @jjpark1217 stated “Love tiger. That said….,he’s cooked” hinting that Tiger Woods’s time has come and fans might not get to see him compete at the same level ever again. @stephen21898443 supported the statement as they replied, “Totally agree. We were lucky to grow up and get to witness him in his prime” as they suggested that they were fortunate to watch Tiger Woods at his best from 1997 to 2013.

@_LFGolf raised concerns about Woods’s commitments in 2025 as they pointed out, “Will Tiger still be able to go for TGL?” questioning if Urkel will be a part of the inaugural TGL season. @straight_cash69 had a suggestion for Woods, “This is painful to watch. Call it a day,” as they asked the GOAT to retire from professional golf instead. @TheMaleCitizen said, “This is too bad. Hope he gets back soon.” hoping for a speedy recovery for the 82x PGA Tour champion.

Everyone in the golf community is definitely saddened by the upsetting news. We will see him play in the 2024 PNC Championship alongside his son, Charlie Woods.
