Sergio backs Donald as the Ryder Cup captain
The 2023 Ryder Cup is going to be an entertaining one. With the Europeans coming back to their home soil. The event will be hosted by Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Italy. It will be a good chance for Team Europe to level the score with Team USA. However, the captain for Team Europe is not decided yet.

Luke Donald is the top contender for the captain’s place as last week Lee Westwood declared that he withdraws himself from the considerations. Henrik Stenson the other name in contention still remains uncertain. Padraig, who is a member of a five members committee for selecting the next skipper “thoroughly recommended him“, Luke Donald.

The latest professional who has also shown his preference towards Luke Donald is the Spaniard Sergio Garcia. He said, “He has good experience playing and being a vice-captain. I’m sure that he’s a great candidate for it, and he can do a great job if he gets the nod for it. I’m so excited to see what’s going to happen there.“I mean, he might seem like a little shy, a little kind of closed, but he’s a wonderful man.”
He added, “He’s quite funny. He’s got a good sense of humor and a big heart, so those are important things to have as not only as a captain but as a person.”

Donald last week also said that if he would be given the opportunity he would ” love the opportunity”.
Sergio at Dubai Desert Classic
The Spanish golfer played a splendid round of golf at the first round of the Dubai Desert Classic. He carded a round of 67, five under par in the first round of the event.
