Though the marquee event of the women’s golf circuit, the Solheim Cup, is over, the women’s golf circuit has a lot of other tournaments scheduled for its fall season. One of these is the 2023 Hero Women’s Indian Open from October 19 to October 22 at the DLF Golf Country Club.
The top contenders showed their skills before the main competition and have already gotten a taste of the event, with special handouts already given before the main event kicks off on Thursday. Let’s dive deeper to learn more about it!
Hero Women’s Indian Open starts with a bang

On October 17, the two teams, Europe and The Rest of the World, competed in the Hero Skills Challenge with four players on each team. Two leading contenders of the week, Diksha Dagar and Johanna Gustavsson, teed off the week with a fine start. A post about the same was shared on Twitter.
The post says, “Europe and the Rest of the world shared the honours for the second straight year as the teams won two Skills each. Both teams received Rs.1,68,000 each for winning two Skills each. Ram Kuppuswamy, Chief Procurement Officer, @HeroMotoCorp, gave away the prizes to the teams. #HWIO”

Hence, the teams not only honed their skills but also won some money. Apart from this, on Thursday, the final match is going to start with 120 players who will fight for the title of the $400,000 event. Last year, there were a majority of Indians in the Rest of the World. Let’s see what the team composition is for this year.

This year’s tournament will include names like Christine Wolf and Meghan Maclaren, who are experienced contenders from the previous year. Apart from them, there is Johanna Gustavsson (the Swede) and Nuria Iturrioz, who will comprise Europe’s team of four.
The Rest of the World is also standing strong with Tvesa Malik and Diksha Dagar, two of the three Indians from the previous year’s team. Furthermore, the team also has Trichat Cheenglab (Thai player on the LET Tour) and the Argentine golfer, Magdalena Simmermacher.
