The first couple of days of the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic saw some shocking events. Fans were hoping to watch Rory McIlroy find his rhythm but he failed to make a major impact. However, one star that did rise on the occasion was Tyrrell Hatton. The Englishman scored 7-under par 65 in the 2nd round to move up to the 3rd spot on the leaderboard. Ewen Ferguson and Daniel Hillier also managed to score 65, raising them to the first and second spots respectively.

But there were some big names who didn’t make the cut for the weekend rounds. Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland, and Adrian Meronk exited the tournament in round 2 as they fell below the cutline. Having said that, let’s find out when will those who qualified tee off.

According to the official website of the European Tour, the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic round 3 will kick off on January 17, 2025; at 10:05 PM (EST). Every group will begin the round at 10 or 15-minute intervals of the previous one.

Now we know which group will be kicking off when. Let’s take a look at what we can expect to see in the penultimate round of the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

Who will gain the upper hand in the 3rd round?

After the -2 in the first round, fans were expecting to see Rory McIlroy bring the heat on a course that is extremely familiar to him. However, the world no. 3 had a day cursed with bogeys that brought his score down miserably. But that was not the case for Tyrrell Hatton. Hatton, who is fighting for a place in the 2025 Ryder Cup team, made a comeback and ended the day at T3. He scored 8 birdies and 1 bogey throughout the day to rise up the table.

However, the biggest surprise came from Ewen Ferguson and Daniel Hillier. Both of them had a bogeyless round in the first half of the day scoring 5 birdies and an 18th-hole eagle. The luck was on the latter’s side as his eagle came after he hit the ball into the signboard and deflected it back to near the hole.
