Every small act has a reason behind it. Likewise, the blue ribbon on the players’ hats had its significance. Last week, there was a devastating tornado that ripped through Kentucky, claiming the lives of more than 60 people.
This was one of the deadliest tornadoes in the United States, destructing anything that came in front of its path. The tornado has been deemed the deadliest storm in the state’s history, and Justin Thomas, being a Kentucky native, felt the urge to donate to the state’s relief.
Witnessing the devastation of the tornado, Justin Thomas approached the PNC Championship organizers and suggested the idea to wear blue ribbons on their hats as a tribute to all those who lost their lives and were affected by the Kentucky tornado.
Thomas’ wonderful gesture was brought to light by the commentary team during the live stream of the PNC Championship Round 1. Furthermore, the 14-time PGA Tour winner has also pledged to donate all of his winnings from this event to the tornado relief.
Thomas’ gesture has impacted the likes of Tiger Woods and more. Woods and his son Charlie were seen sporting the blue ribbon, paying tribute.
