Tommy Fleetwood is in the City Lights, gearing up to fulfill his national duties as he prepares for the Paris Olympics. However, a dark shadow has been cast over his hometown of Southport with the devastating news of a stabbing attack on children. According to police officials, two children lost their lives in the attack. Despite the bustling atmosphere of his current surroundings, Fleetwood’s heart is with his hometown during this tragic time.

The reports further revealed that nine others were injured, out of which six were in critical condition. Two adults were also victims of the stabbing, as they bravely tried to save the children from the attacker. As per reports by the BBC, the children were in a Taylor Swift dance workshop at Hart Street in Southport at the Hope of Heart Children’s Club. The attacker, said to be a 17-year-old boy from Lancashire, born in Cardiff, has been arrested on suspicion.

The heartbreaking incident left Fleetwood utterly “heartbroken.” Amid his Olympics preparations, the Southport native posted a heartfelt message to the Southport community and sent his thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families. He further said, “As a parent myself it’s difficult to even comprehend what has happened and what they have ahead of them, but I know the whole community in Southport will come together to support them. My heart will always be in Southport.” 

Fleetwood’s comment section was flooded with messages of support as people mourned the tragic loss of the two innocent victims and condemned the brutal and violent attack. The outpouring of sympathy reflected the community’s shared grief and condemned the brutal attack.

A total of eight people were left critically injured after the Southport stabbing spree at Hart Street happened. A witness recalled the harrowing moment when the horrible attack unfolded in front of their eyes and spoke about how they had never seen anything like it. A few of the children were being treated at the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Sharing their condolences, this user commented, “Shocking news. RIP to the children and Hope the injured can make a recovery.” 

The BBC reported that many people in the Southport community came forward to help the children and someone even brought 10 girls to safety from the scene of the attack.. While the community was in a state of shock, they were quick to respond and provide aid to the victims and their families. Thus, this user agreed with Fleetwood and his trust in the community. They said, “Well said Tommy. If half the people of Southport are as genuine as you it must be a great place to live. My sincere condolences to those killed and injured. So, so sad.” 

It was truly gut-wrenching to witness young kids bleeding, and 13 ambulances were dispatched to the scene to ensure that no more lives were lost. This has left one fan in shock, who said, “Horrendous news, just cant imagine these things happening here. Thoughts are with everyone involved.” Another user had expressed similar emotions of hurt and dismay as they couldn’t understand the motive for attacking kids. They questioned, “It’s awful Tommy, can’t really comprehend. I know a couple of the kids involved, they’re OK but in hospital & who knows what long lasting effects will haunt them. Why? Why? Why? Especially with kids, beyond belief x.”

The next few weeks will be incredibly difficult for the families and the entire Southport community. The loss of lives and the trauma faced by the injured children will take time to heal.
