Jordan Spieth’s US Open journey is over. The 29-year-old was unable to keep his scores under par at the Los Angeles Country Club, which eventually led to him missing the cut.

It was an admittedly shoddy performance from the three-time major championship winner, who is having a disappointing season of late. But his week went downhill after video footage caught him shouting a slur in dismay, which forced him to drop by yet another swear jar.

The former World No. 1 last won a major championship six years ago, which marks a discouraging run over the years. Spieth made cuts at both the Masters Tournament and the PGA Championship this year, but couldn’t get his hands anywhere near the trophies.

A similar story unfolded at LACC this week, where Spieth hardly got going with his game. Despite the comprehended ease of the golf course, the former FedEx Cup champion was unable to make an impression across the two days, which resulted in a disappointing exit.

However, his explosive side at the course made rounds for the wrong reasons. After one of his many wayward drives at the North course, Spieth swore angrily at the top of his lungs, which was recorded by the tournament footage.

Interestingly, an actor from golf’s most famous acclaim to Hollywood, ‘Happy Gilmore,’ reacted to Spieth’s outburst. It was none other than 68-year-old Christopher McDonald, who reprised the role of ‘Shooter McGavin’ as the main antagonist in the film.

Indeed, the penalty for using the slur proved costly for Spieth. The 2015 US Open champion was forced for a round at the swear jar after his swearing. Interestingly, it was his second successive major championship cursing after last month’s PGA Championship, where he was in and around the swear jar as well.

Unfortunately, these remain the only distant memories from Spieth’s last few major championships. While he finished inside the top 10 at the Augusta National, the 2015 PGA Player of the Year still has a long way to go before matching his long-lost brilliance, which ended up securing him three major championships in a glorious period.
