Following the Masters Tournament last week, the fans have been looking forward to some excitement in the golf world. And with the majority of the top Tour players playing in the RBC Heritage, they certainly had their wish granted. From exciting pair-ups to intense competition at the top of the leaderboard, just two rounds in, the event is already turning into a hit! And the recent banter between Justin Thomas and Smylie Kaufman on the course certainly added to the excitement!

Justin Thomas doesn’t let Smylie Kaufman snack in peace

In 2023, Kaufman signed with NBCs Golf Channel as an on-course reporter. The one-time PGA Tour winner has since been covering his former colleagues at events. But that familiarity he has with them brings out some amazing moments during the rounds. And fans witnessed one such incident on Friday during the second round of the RBC Heritage between the jokester, Thomas, and Kaufman.

JT had just hit the ball off the tee, and it was sailing toward the right. Despite his chanting “hit it, wind,” hoping that the breeze would carry the ball where he wanted, the ball flew straight into the waste area, where Kaufman was standing and snacking. Walking out of the way, the former Tour star laughed and said, “I got my Chex Mix down here; I’m trying to get a little snack in, and JT’s hitting balls at me.”

But fortunately for the fans, the banter between the two didn’t just end there. On Instagram, too, the pair had some fun. On the video of the incident that the Tour posted on Instagram, JT funnily wrote, “Head on a swivel,” tagging Kaufman and telling him to watch out. But the former Tour star wittily responded by saying, “Don’t you move hole,” trolling his wayward shot.

Kaufman and JT drive the golf fans berserk

The Tour posted the same video of Kaufman’s dodge on Twitter too, and this time the reporter took the lead. Hilariously commenting on the video, he wrote, “Trying to keep my weight up. 364 more days until hockey tryouts.”

The fans loved every second of their on-and-off course exchange. On both Twitter and Instagram, they praised the reporter, saying, “Smylie is goated in the booth,” and calling him the best.

Some even called their banter “awesome,” and a JT fan even sided with him and hilariously wrote, “He shouldn’t have been standing there.” And yet another funnily suggested that Kaufman could have helped out the 2-time major winner by nudging his ball onto the fairway.
