Despite the successful professional life of Tiger Woods, the golfer always had struggles with his love life. However, a new debate has taken over the golf world, claiming Woods wouldn’t have achieved as much in this era as he did a decade ago. With troubling legal days ahead of him, and fans even questioning his golf greatness, let’s take a look at what the golf enthusiasts had to say.
While Tiger is prepping for the upcoming Masters, he was struck with a shocking accusation from his former girlfriend, Erica Herman. Woods was taken to court by Herman for an NDA she was forced to sign by the golfer, and she seeks $30 million in return.
Though the 15-time Major winner’s relationships have always been surrounded by controversy, his golf resume always stood out from the rest. Nonetheless, even his portfolio is in jeopardy at the moment as the Hall of Famer’s decade-long achievements were questioned by fans on Twitter, as they shared their thoughts.

Golf world debates over Tiger Woods and his current relevance
It all began when the Fore Play Twitter handle asked the fans for an unpopular opinion that can be controversial to many. However, then Kyle Porter, a CBS Journalist, wrote, “I don’t think Tiger would have won as much in this era as he did in his”.
I don't think Tiger would have won as much in this era as he did in his. This shouldn't be particularly controversial, but it will be. https://t.co/CYdjHXf7Wt

With 82 wins including his 15 Major titles, Woods is highly regarded as one of the greatest. Moreover, not much has changed since his glory days in the technicality of the sport. But when it comes to competition and quality of golf, it surely has seen a significant rise.
Current exceptional talents such as Rory Mcllroy, Jon Rahm, and Scottie Scheffler to name a few have taken the quality of golf to new heights. However, none of this could have been achieved in the first place if it wasn’t for Tiger Woods. The Hall of Famer was idolized by many of the current pro golfers, as he helped elevate the sport.
Though it may be fair to raise a concern of whether Tiger would struggle in this era, no one can deny he would give everyone a tough competition even today. While some may agree with CBS journalist, Kyle Porter, others had different thoughts. Let’s take a look at what the golf world had to say:
This is 100 percent true. No chance in hell he gets to 82 wins and 15 majors if he started his PGA Tour career in 2015. That doesn't also mean he still wouldn't be the best player in his generation and win a lot of big events, though Tiger fanboys.

yep he was avg at best…just lucky he played against a bunch nobodies tbh😂#goodone

Counterpoint: without Tiger, this era is nowhere near what it is.

Tiger won three events – one a major, another a Tour Champ – in 8 months in this era. WITH A FUSED SPINE!!
— James Corrigan (no blue tick) (@jcorrigangolf) March 27, 2023
50% or more of this generation idolized Tiger. This generation is what it is because tiger did what he did. May not be a controversial take to say he doesn’t win 80 tournaments with the talent in the PGA now, but without tiger golf isn’t what it is today

I agree with this. Tiger was a phenomenal player but it seems to me players of his generation were playing for second. Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, Watson, Trevino, Weiskoph wanted to win and I believe wouldn’t be satisfied with anything less.

This is a good one. Tiger fans will be very unhappy 😂. But tigers biggest competition was Phil and he had major issues closing the deal pre 2004. So from 97-04 there was not much for competition honestly

1. This era would 100% still be just as competitive. Every sport went through this same progression of hyper focused training. 2. Tiger still dominates this era from his prime – look up his SG stats and compare them, he’d still be in his own tier.
— Cooper Frederick (@cfrederick29) March 27, 2023
To be fair, we haven’t seen how many of these guys would hold up on a Sunday against Tiger in his prime. Given the regression seen from everyone in his era, results might not be too terribly different.

Though many question if prime Tiger Woods would have achieved the same in this era as he did decades ago, Woods, at the age of 47, is still giving golfers a tough time. Perhaps he can prove himself in next week’s Masters after winning his sixth Green Jacket!
