Yesterday the golf world fell into a shock after the name of Jon Rahm disappeared from TGL’s official website. Rahm was among the earliest names to be signed for the new league which is the brainchild of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy

It was indeed shocking to find out that the list of players now only consisted of 23 players with the Spaniard’s name missing and blatant accusations were shot his way. But thankfully Rahm has found a great relief in a former PGA Tour pro.

Rahm’s sudden disappearance from the player’s list of TGL is a setback that immediately gave birth to many theories. Adding fuel to the fire was the fact that his name was also removed from all of TGL’s social media platforms as if he had never been a part. And the first thought that has come to all is that Rahm has crossed over to LIV Golf.

And this school of thought is not baseless. Rahm is among the top players highly perused by the Saudi-backed Tour. But they were not able to break him. He valued his loyalty to the PGA Tour more than the huge paycheck being offered by the rival tour. But LIV still has their eyes set on him.

But there is a friend on the PGA Tour who thinks that Jon hasn’t betrayed his team. Rallying in his support PGA Tour pro Hunter Mahan has tweeted that “There’s nothing complicated or nuanced to JonRahmpga backing out of TGL. He’s not going to LIV. Lot of travel for an indoor event, when he wants to win majors.”

Mahan feels that Rahm has dropped out of the new tour due to travel issues and not because he is cruising over to the rivals. These words of support must be a big relief for Rahm whose prestige is in danger on account of the allegations.

Since their creation, LIV Golf has tried the strategy of luring players with giant paychecks and they tried the same with Jon Rahm. The world No. 3 turned down a nine-figure offer from them.

While appearing in the Golf Sin Etiquetas podcast in August he said “I laugh when people rumor me with LIV Golf. I never liked the format. And I always have a good time with Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia in the practice rounds of majors. Phil respects my decision, and I respect his choice.”

28 years old Rahm has already won 2 majors. And if he wishes for more then it is evident that he needs more time to focus which he can’t do while playing in two leagues.
