Greg Norman is currently in the headlines for the LIV Golf Invitational Series. And recently, he gave an interview to Sky Sports, where he tried to clarify most of the issues regarding the league. Moreover, Greg also revealed his views on the recent ostracism of Phil Mickelson.
He said, “I can’t speak on Phil’s behalf. From what I read, Phil has apologized, said Norman. He wished he could take every word back, no question about it. I don’t know how all that whole thing played out and why two sides to the story. I wasn’t there, so I can’t comment.”

“But I can tell you this Phil’s legacy in all the years I have been involved with him and seen him play his legacy is his legacy. He has made a mistake, and as far as I am concerned Phil will always have an open door to any golf tournament he wants to play,” revealed Greg.

Phil Mickelson hasn’t competed on the PGA Tour since February 2022. As his comments about the PGA Tour went viral, he faced a lot of criticism from all the fans and lost the majority of his sponsors. Hence, he had to take a break from the game, and he did not even compete in the Masters.

Therefore, the host asked Norman his views on whether Phil should compete in the upcoming PGA Championship. “Phil didn’t ask me about the PGA, but I would encourage him to go play the PGA. You are the defending champion, and your legacy is your legacy,” concluded Greg.

Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson has given his name for the upcoming major PGA Championship. However, it is not yet clear whether he will be competing at the event to defend his title. Moreover, he was also one of those golfers who requested a release to compete in the inaugural event of the LIV Golf Invitational.

However, the PGA Tour has rejected the release request of all players. Hence, golfers competing in the Greg Norman-led league might face some consequences. Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether Mickelson goes on to play the LIV Golf Series or remains with the PGA Tour.
