Donald Trump’s love for golf is no secret for his fans and haters. He has talked about it everywhere. Be it Bryson DeChambeau’s breaking 50 challenge, or his granddaughter’s achievement at the Palm Beach Championship, Trump never misses an opportunity to talk about his golf game. He even bragged about his skills during the first 2024 US elections presidential debate.

Now, Trump is back in the spotlight, and this time it’s not just his bragging that makes the waves but gold, too. We are discussing the President’s recent win at the Senior Club Championship! Yes, you heard it right. It looks like Trump has taken his critiques seriously. He ended up scoring a stunning 68, this time, at Trump International Golf Club Palm Beach on 12th January.

The report was first shared by one of his fans on their Instagram story, who also shared a stunning golf course video. The picture on the leaderboard declared Donald’s winning score of 68.

She also capped her story with an emoji of Trump’s iconic red hat that says “Make America Great Again,” to reflect her admiration for the senior golfer. NUCLR Golf later shared the screenshot on X, and it garnered some worth-reading reactions from the golfing community.

Golf enthusiasts react to Trump winning a senior tournament

@NUCLRGOLF’s Donald Trump post on X gathered over 383K views and 350 comments within five hours. While some users praised the President’s skills, others quickly criticized his history of cheating on the greens.

A critique said, “He cheats in golf. Not good,” referring to Trump’s cheating history on greens. Interestingly, another golf fan too had a similar reaction. With a touch of humor, he said, “And if you believe he fully earned that score honestly, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell….”

Given Trump’s past cheating controversies on the greens, these criticisms aren’t shocking. In January 2023, he was listed as the winner of a Senior Club Championship at Trump International West Palm Beach, despite not participating in the first round. Sportswriter Rick Reilly has also accused Trump of cheating, saying, “This guy cheats like a Mafia accountant.” Reilly’s claims stem from an incident where Trump allegedly shifted his own ball placement and later told golfers it was his ball, implying they must have missed his tee shot landing on the green.

This brings us to another reaction that shot up the criticism level. “If I really was a good golfer, and I owned the club, I would stay out of the tournament so that my members/customers could win, but that’s just me. I don’t feel a need to dominate others or have a small pen,” the netizen said, complaining against Donald Trump’s tendency to compete on his own golf courses. The backlash did not just stop there!

A critique jumped in saying, “Worlds in turmoil and he’s playing golf,” devastating Los Angeles wildfire that has claimed 24 lives as of Sunday. According to the reports, the President’s response to the crisis was – blaming California Governor Gavin Newsom’s environmental policies for the deadly blazes.

We might not know how much of a fact the President’s blame is. But, we surely know that social media users are not quite delighted with the lack of seriousness of the issue. This might be because, during the elections last year, Trump made numerous promises leading to expectations.

Interestingly, one X user was witty enough to reflect on the time Trump bragged about his handicap score compared to former President Joe Biden. Referring to that, he jokingly said, “What do the red numbers represent, handicaps?” In reality, the red number 40 represents Donald Trump’s Stableford points on the leaderboard.
