Lauren Coughlin's manager blames her for his drinking—Is this the funniest LPGA story you've heard?

Lauren Coughlin‘s performances on the greens are becoming a problem for her recruiting manager, Brian Bailie. No, we are not talking about missing the cut at tournaments like the Dow Championship or the U.S. Women’s Open, but rather the events where she secured top-10 finishes. How could strong performances be a problem? Bailie has some answers.

Coughlin finished her third round with a 66 and is currently on top of the leaderboard at the Women’s Scottish Open. While she is on the quest to win the title some interesting reports have emerged. Recently, Coughlin was at episode 10 of Whiskey Made Me Say It Podcast on Golf Cask’s YouTube Channel with her recruiting manager.

They talked about a lot of things in the 24-minute-long video and reminisced something about the past. It happened back in 2022 during the time of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship they developed a fun tradition of celebrating Coughlin’s performances with whiskey.

But the golfer was unable to finish at the desired position at that time and they tweaked the tradition a little bit. Talking about it Bailie said “Anytime that you create a top 10, yeah, we will, we will toast, take a sip from it, yeah. So needless to say, the bottle sat there for a while, but it was getting close, like, like, you know, so then we’re like, maybe it’s a top 15 bottle mate. No, no, no, we’re gonna keep it top 10.”

However, as the days progressed it became a problem for the manager and he further added, “And so now I have a drinking problem because LC’s has been hitting so many top 10s that I’ve actually had to I toast every time she creates top 10, no matter where she’s in the world, my wife and I will sit down and have a toast to LC’s Great performances.”

Speaking of celebrating, Lauren Coughlin has finished top-10 in six tournaments in the season out of all the tournaments she has played in giving her manager plenty of reasons to toast. While she missed the cut at three tournaments, there are some top-30 finishes at the tournaments like KPMG Women’s PGA Championships as well. It’s clear how Bailie celebrates, but what about the golfer herself?

Does Lauren Coughlin celebrate her performances like Brian Bailie?

There aren’t any reports of Coughling celebrating her top-10 finishes like the recruiting manager. However, that doesn’t mean the golfer doesn’t celebrate at all. The 31-year-old usually likes to celebrate whenever she wins a tournament. She only has one LPGA Tour victory to her name and that is the CPKC Women’s Open. Which she won in July this year finishing with a total of 13-under 275.

After she won her first LPGA title, the 31-year-old said “We’ve worked really hard just for this to happen,” as revealed on the Calgary Herald Website. Meanwhile, her husband John Pond showered her with champagne as a celebration. It was a long-awaited victory for her after she turned pro back in 2016. Although Lauren Coughlin doesn’t have any traditions like Brian Bailie she did celebrate her first victory to make it more memorable.
