Lexi Thompson’s efforts to shine brighter seem to have been overshadowed by yet another hand injury. Her feat at the Chevron Championship this year must be a perfect déjà vu for Thompson, as this year marks the second straight year that she has had to walk the greens of The Club at Carlton Woods with a taped-up injured hand.

It seems that her long-going struggle with recurrent wrist injuries is back. While it has been reported that her injury at the 2023 edition of the first major of the season was because she ”just overworked it,” it is yet to be seen if the same is true this year or if the reason is deeper than that.

Towards the end of last year, the 29-year-old was plagued with hand pain for which she had an unnamed procedure done. Moreover, she also shared pictures of her MRI results, which showed swelling, inflammation, and tendinitis in her hand, along with a cortical irregularity in her tailbone.

Thompson seemed to have always chosen the “push through it” approach to deal with her injuries. However, it appears that it has changed this season. She wrote, “Not being 100% healthy is never fun to deal with physically or mentally. Even though I pushed through it this week, I’ve decided I need to figure out how to get back to my best self. To get my hand healthy and in a better state of mind. Time to do the work on myself.

The famous LPGA star seems to have chosen to heal herself completely before stepping into the greens again, both physically and mentally. While her preferred mode of recovery remains undisclosed, what is likely to be her pick?

Which healing process will Lexi Thompson likely choose?

Thompson has been an open advocate for managing osteoarthritis pain. But she has historically chosen natural modes of recovery over opioid solutions, a possible indicator of her next steps in healing, as well.

Her trusted partner in all of this has remained the famous nature Iovera treatment. This is a form of natural treatment that uses extreme cold to provide relief from pain. Time and again, Thompson has advocated for this opioid-less solution. She may take the natural route this time around as well. However, the flip side to this can be her ode to making changes to her patterns of pushing it through and making permanent changes, possibly indicating surgery.

Only time will tell which method Thompson will put her trust in this season.
