Cameron Smith picked up his second win of the 2022 PGA Tour season and his fifth PGA Tour win. The Australian professional won the Players Championship on Monday. However, the professional has a piece of bleak news for his fans. Cameron Champ has withdrawn from next week’s WGC Dell Match Play.

The PGA Tour Communications tweeted the piece of news regarding Smith. The Tweet included a statement from the Aussie professionals, announcing his withdrawal from the 2022 WGC Dell Match Play at Austin Country Club. It is the first WGC event of the 2022 season.

The statement said, “Regretfully, I have decided to withdraw from next week’s Dell Match Play. We had a long extended week at THE PLAYERS and I just needed a little break. I’m enjoying my last week with Mum and my sister Mel prior to them departing home for Australia.”

He added, “Been 2+ years since the last time we’ve been together. Came down to more time practicing ‘or’ an extra couple days with my family. Easy choice. My best to all in 2022. Looking forward to returning to Austin in 2023″

Cameron at Players also spoke about how golf was “Second for these few weeks.” Cams’ statement proves that he loves to spend time with his family.

Smith won the 2022 Players Championship, his fifth major. The Aussie professionals won the event with an overall score of 13-under-par, winning the event with a one-shot-lead.

He carded a final round of 66, six-under-par in his back nine. Smith made five birdies and three bogeys on the front nine, resulting in moving out in two-under-par. Further, he also made five birdies and one bogey on the tough back nine.
