The 2022 Masters Tournament begins on April 7th till April 10th. It is the first major event of the calendar year where the world’s best professionals battle it out for the green jacket. However, Harris English, a part of the field at the Masters, revealed a piece of sad news for his fans.

The 32-year-old professional who was a crucial part of Team USA’s success at the 2021 Ryder Cup will not be a part of the 2022 Masters. Harris last played on PGA Tour at the Sony Open in January has officially withdrawn from the 2022 Masters as he is recovering from a hip injury.

Previously, he even withdrew from the 2022 WM Phoenix Open as he had to undergo surgery for the injury that he was suffering from the fall.

Harris revealed the sad news of withdrawing from the 2022 Masters through a statement on his official Twitter account. It is really disappointing to see probably one of the best professionals withdrawing from the event due to an injury.

The tweet said, “Regrettably, I will not be able to compete next week at The Masters. I’m progressing very well from recent hip surgery, but have to exercise caution as I return to play…” 

Not to forget, Harris made his first start since 2016 at the Masters last year in 2021, where he finished at tied 21st position. However, English will not be replaced in the 90 men’s field, including Tiger Woods. The 91st spot in the field can be claimed by this week’s Valero Texas Open winner if the professional is not already a part of the field.

Harris English’s finish at the Sony Open

Harris did not make a strong finish at the event he last played in January on the business end. He finished at the Sony Open in Hawaii is tied for 55th position. English ended the event with an overall score of seven-under-par. As a result, he finished a whopping 16 strokes back from the winner. He carded a final round of one-under-par, 71 at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

Moreover, his final round of one-under-par included two birdies, one bogey, and a double bogey on the back nine. As a result, he moved out in one-over-par, 36. Harris made two birdies and another double bogey on the back nine on the route to this tied 55th finish at the event.
