Team USA suffered a lot at the Ryder Cup this year. On the opponent’s home field, they were unable to end a three-decade away winless streak. The momentum that the Americans had lost on day one of the competition could not be regained, and soon after, the captain’s decisions about choices, pairings, etc. came under intense scrutiny.
However, their woes didn’t end there! Numerous golf pros, like Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, also experienced some contractual disputes. In short, Team US now has quite a traumatic affair with the Roman Greens. And now their future seems in shambles, and recently an ever-loyal and patriotic 6-time PGA Tour winner shed light on that!

Hunter Mahan, a PGA Tour veteran, has been vocally opposed to numerous US team pairings from the beginning. Mahan was not at all pleased when Sam Burns accidentally hit Scottie Scheffler’s ball into the sea during foursome matches, nor was he impressed when the duo lost!
In addition, Mahan was perplexed as to why Jordan Spieth chose to use a 3-wood rather than a driver on the 16th hole during the second-day four-ball matches. And now that the event is over and it’s America’s turn to host the Ryder Cup in 2025, Mahan hits Team USA with a harsh reality.
In the latest podcast with Golf Digest’s The Loop, Mahan declared that the next time too, it would be hard for the US to defeat the opponents. ”I think the European side is going to come in Bethpage guns blazing, and I think they’re going to be really hard to defeat. And that’s two years from now,” said Mahan, who himslef has played in a few Ryder Cups before!
The PGA Tour star continued that rival teams had talented young players and that the recent historic victory would give them the momentum they needed to keep the trophy. ”They’ve got a lot of good young players sort of in the mix that are coming up. And they’re going to get really inspired by this fast performance,” he stated boldly.
Mahan seems to have lost all confidence in the US after their humiliating defeat. However, one big advantage the Americans have for next time is that they’ll be playing at home! And with the touch course that’s been picked, they may just have the upper hand!
America’s strong message to the golfers with its 2025 Ryder Cup course
