Are LIV golfers like Harold Varner III redefining what it means to be a sports hero today?

It’s currently the LIV Golf League’s off-season. But no tournaments don’t mean just lazing around. Especially for Harold Varner III after such a tragedy as Hurricane Helene took place in the U.S.A. Well, not to worry, for the golfer and his team made sure to step up to support the relief efforts in the western part of North Carolina. And many, including the likes of Hailey Ostrom, took to Instagram to praise the athlete!

The golfer, after deciding to help out, reached out to his team just a day after the tragedy hit. The group initially worked on the ground giving away chainsaws, fuel, parts, and generators, and helped out the people through various means. That’s not all. Varner III’s team also started running trips from the airport to supply pick-up areas and ran medical supplies from Charlotte for the injured. More importantly, he decided to raise awareness about the same while urging others to support the cause.

Saying that the community was pleased would be an understatement. For some even took to mention how he spent the money that he received from the Saudi-backed league very effectively instead of keeping it to himself. Quite a bit of a philanthropist, he turned out to be, as he extended his hand toward those in need in North Carolina! Suffice it to say, golfing influencer Hailey Ostrom was but one of the few who decided to express her support for the same!

Proud would be an understatement as a couple of followers took to express their praise for the golfer and his team for spending the money he received from the PIF-funded circuit. Respect,” and “This makes me proud to be a HV3 fan, great work to the team the guys on the ground, and a standing ovation for Harold!!!! He didn’t have to use his own money but he did that shows a man’s character, which speaks louder than words in my opinion!”

Although the golfer was born in Ohio, he spent his younger years in Gastonia. Growing up, he played golf at Forestview High and teed off in collegiate golf at East Carolina University. Couple these facts with the recent relief efforts, and a fan went ahead to respond, “Appreciate you keeping your roots.”

While the devastating news of Hurricane Helene did come as a shock to many, it ultimately led to many joining hands to help each other out. And it sure did bring out the best in many including the likes of the LIV Golf Pro. Take a bow, Harold Varner III!
