Not many golfers have the opportunity to break records, especially one of their own. In the latest event of the PGA Tour Champions, Bernhard Langer has shattered a record that was held by himself after clinching the TimberTech Championship. Langer became the oldest golfer to claim a PGA Tour Champions win. Fans on Twitter could not contain but share their reactions to the historic win.
Langer has two Major wins to his name. However, his Senior Tour career has been much more exquisite than his prime PGA Tour days. The 65-year-old has 44 wins in the PGA Tour Champions, only one victory shy of the all-time highest winner in the Senior Tour, Hale Irwin.

Nonetheless, Bernhard Langer has already achieved a lot with his latest win coming this weekend. Let’s take a look at Langer’s historic win at Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club in Florida.
Bernhard Langer becomes the oldest PGA Tour-sanctioned event winner
At age of 65, Langer has been dominating the PGA Tour Champions. He shot a 66 in the final round, finishing at 17 under. The German star was six strokes ahead of Paul Goydos and Thongchai Jaidee. This marked Langer’s third victory at TimberTech Championship.

He made the record of becoming the oldest winner of a PGA Tour-sanctioned event at the age of 64 earlier this year, after claiming the Chubb Classic. However, he turned 65 in August and then went on to win TimberTech Championship, shattering his own record of becoming the oldest winner.
Nonetheless, Bernhard Langer has set his eyes on yet another. He just needs one more win to match Hale Irwin’s record of 45 wins, the highest number of PGA Tour Champions wins in history. However, with only one event left of the season, there’s a lot at stake for Langer.
After breaking the uncommon record, golf fans on Twitter shared their appreciation towards the Hall of Famer. Though most fans loved Langer’s performance, one fan even compared the golfer’s looks to Clint Eastwood.
