Yesterday, news hinting at a change in the LIV Golf Series’ hierarchy spread like wildfire. There were reports which indicated that Greg Norman could be moving upstairs to allow a reputed person to be heralded as the new CEO.

However, the former golfer’s son, Greg Norman Jr., responded to the rumors. In a fifty-worded tweet, he called out the allegations as baseless and condemned the developing propaganda.

Greg Norman Jr. denies reported LIV CEO shift

The son of current LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman issued a strong-worded tweet regarding the rumors surrounding the top position at the Saudi-backed league.

He disregarded the “rumor mill regarding LIV and my dad” while condemning the “propaganda machine in action.” Norman Jr. also commented on how these websites tried to gain clicks (and money) without verifying the source.

His tweet was in response to the reported shift in power in the LIV Golf Series. A number of major media houses published articles in view of LIV Golf targeting a new chief executive, who is none other than former TaylorMade CEO, Mark King.

Mark King – The new LIV CEO?

While a shift in powers after a solitary season of golf is unexpected, King will make for a handy leader. He has more than 20 years of experience in golf, working his way up from sales division to President and later CEO of sports equipment company, TaylorMade.

Additionally, in what could have been a deal-breaker, King believes in LIV Golf. He had reportedly conveyed his feelings to leading journalist, Michael Bamberger about the Saudi-backed league in September. According to the writer at Fire Pit Collective, King had King told him “in five years LIV Golf will be another tour among existing tours and that everybody will learn to get along.”

King also seems to possess the Midas touch. He has elevated profits everywhere, be it in his years at TaylorMade, or his stint at Adidas in North America. He is currently the CEO of the world-famous brand Taco Bell, a part of YUM! Brands.
