Greg Norman’s recent Twitter post stirs controversy

A recent article talked about the protests that have surfaced as a reaction to the Saudi-backed league. LIV’s introduction to the world of golf has definitely not been the smoothest of transitions. Mentions were made of the pro golfing league being owned by the Private Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia. PIF is a sovereign wealth fund headed by Mohammed bin Salman.

Norman pointed out what he thought to be the “hypocrisy” in the post. On one side, the article in question talked about how LIV Golf’s introduction has prompted changes in the PGA Tour to be made. However, it also mentioned the protests on the involvement of PIF in the matter.
Greg Norman quoted the New York Post article which clarified, “Ever fly on a Boeing airplane? Buy tickets through Live Nation or play Electronic Arts computer games? Use Facebook? They’re all partially owned by the PIF and yet nobody bats an eyelid…”
Norman pointed out the part of the article where they mentioned about how several other massive platforms are owned by the PIF. Yet, there are not many discussions about it. He co-signed the article with an ‘Amen’.

Although the biggest opposition I’ve heard towards LIV isnt Saudi funding but that the actual golf isn’t that interesting. Some say the same about PGAT and DPWT. Different people like different things I guess

It’s all about your own financial gain. You care nothing about any of the players on either side.

Consumers using services by public companies the PIF has invested in is entirely different from players knowingly receiving payment essentially directly, but you already know this and you don’t care because you are not acting in good faith.

You hated not being relevant anymore ! Your little ripple in the golf world will soon fade away and you will again be irrelevant. You have helped harm the careers of many younger golfers

I’m old enough to remember when Greg Norman was a respected golfer and not a shill for terrorists and murderers. Sad.

It’s one thing to own a non-controlling interest in something; totally different when every decision, every dollar spent is controlled by, directed by and solely for the benefit of a callous country’s leadership. I really don’t understand how the Snark sleeps at night…
