Greg Norman makes an incredible announcement
The Shark is a famous Australian professional. According to Norman’s website, he has won 91 professional wins. His 91 successes include two major championship wins and 20 wins on the PGA Tour. As a result, his achievement makes him probably one of the most outstanding professionals ever to play the sport. Moreover, the 67-year-old professional recently spoke about his one last comeback to professional golf.
In a recent interview with News Corp, the former World Number One in the Official World Golf Rankings said he is thinking of making a comeback at the 150th Open at St. Andrews. But will he qualify? The major event starts on July 10th. Not to forget, Greg last played as a professional 10 years ago and is coming out of his retirement to play the major championship event. Furthermore, his last event as a professional came in 2012 at the Australian PGA Championship.
Moreover, in his interview, the shark said, “I’m filling out my entry form now, I think I’m going. I think I can still get in. It’s the 150th. I’m a past Open champion. I love St Andrews. If there’s a moment in time that I would consider going back and teeing off one last time. Maybe this is it.” Norman has won the British Open twice. Once in 1986 and then in 1993. He also finished in a tied-third position in the 2008 Open. Coincidently the last major championship event he played was The Open, which he played at Turnberry.

Moreover, Norman has made an incredible 27 appearances at the major championship event from 1977 to 2009. He has a whopping 10 top 10-finishes at the British Open. However, the Australian professional can no longer automatically qualify as a past champion because Norman is over 60. He will have to qualify for the event unless the organizers give him a special exemption.
However, The Open has a history of bending its rules for the past champions, which helped Tom Waston play at the event at the age of 65 in 2014. As a result, Norman also stands a chance to qualify through the same. Moreover, only time will tell whether such an exemption will be given to Greg and if he will earn his spot at the 150th Open at the home of golf.
