LIV Golf’s current season is approaching its end, and it’s all celebrations and ceremonies in Miami right now. With hours left for the main event to begin, Talor Gooch has now received the honor that Dustin Johnson received last year.

Yes, Gooch has been named the individual champion of the year. A ceremony took place to celebrate the occasion, and Greg Norman did his bit to make Gooch happy. The LIV camp is bustling with energy now, pumped up to find out who wins the team championship.

The unexpected proposal

The tweet from Rangegoats official Twitter handle reads, “@talorgooch just got a championship ring from being the individual champion! @benballer you did your thing on the ring! 💍💍💍💍  now let’s get this team championship!”

The Rangegoats team members were gathered near a large screen that showed an AV for Talor Gooch. The announcement for the Individual Champion of 2023 came up on the screen. The glorious stone-studded gold ring showed up as well.

Then Greg Norman, the CEO of LIV golf, did the most unexpected thing. He got on his knees with the ring, and surprised Gooch. The party started yelling “yes, yes” and the cheerfulness was quite infectious.

Greg Norman also shared the “proposal” video on his Instagram story and congratulated Gooch personally. He wrote “Congrats mate” and followed it up with a laughing emoji. Looks like the gang had a lot of fun in the arena.

Coming to the team event, while the Rangegoats’ motivation to bag the team championship seems ambitious, it’s quite possible.

Can Rangegoats win the team championship?

Although not in the top three positions, the Rangegoats currently stand at number 4 on the season standings table. Ahead of them at the top three are the 4Aces, Crushers, and the Torque team.

The 4Aces team is headed by Dustin Johnson, the previous year’s individual champion. Bryson DeChambeau heads the Crushers team, and the Torque team’s captain is Joaquin Niemann.

4Aces currently hold 192 points on the table, Crushers have 186 points, Torque has 182 points, and Rangegoats have 179 points. With the final event left, the winner of this event will get 32 points, the runner-up will get 24 points, and the third team will get 16 points.

So considering the math, the Rangegoats have a pretty good chance of bagging the cup, provided the top three teams don’t perform too well. However, the 4Aces were the team championships last year, and they are at the top this year as well.

But, like the individual championship, it’s possible that the team championship also moves from Johnson to the Rangegoats.
