LIV Golf saw its inaugural season end in October last year. Since then, the Breakaway Tour’s fans have been eagerly awaiting its return. And now the time has finally arrived! All the defectors have now made their way to Mayakoba for the first event of the series’ second season. And the cherry on top came when Greg Norman touched down in Mayakoba recently and made his way to the site of the first tournament.
Greg Norman arrives in Mexico and drives the fans wild
Recently, the LIV Golf CEO took to Instagram to announce his arrival in Mayakoba. He posted a video that showed him boarding a jet and then touching down in Mexico. Fans couldn’t help but notice how he traveled in luxury and style. The adventurous former golfer then went on to explore the caves and scenic spots of Mayakoba before finally making his way to the El Camaleón Golf Course.

Norman, there, was greeted with a bunch of smiles from the defectors excited about his arrival. The fans of the new series too were thrilled about the hype the former golf pro’s touchdown was generating for the event. And as one fan put it, the shark was “always doing it in style!”

They went on to even wish the Australian legend luck ahead of the returning season. “Good luck this week Greg,” commented one loyal fan. Another LIV loyalist wrote, “Have a great weekend, Shark! There are more of us still supporting you than they want people to believe.” It’s safe to say that LIV’s supporters have grown since it first emerged.
LIV Golf: The Mayakoba Event

The Saudi-backed League has 14 events across multiple countries this year, and it all starts in Mexico. The defectors will begin their 54-hole, 3-day match at the El Camaleón Golf Course on the 24th of February this week. The event sees no cuts and will be played from Friday to Sunday, and the players will tee off with shotgun starts.
Every event also has both an individual and a team factor. Just this week, the Saudi-backed Tour announced the complete team list. Headed by 12 major golf stars, the field of 48 is split into 12 teams of four each. The matches are sure to be intense with the huge $25 million purses at the events. Fans can watch it on the CW Network in the US.
